The Candy Shop

You broke in
   Sampled the non pareils,
      The licorice whips

You filled yourself
   On coconut creams
      Penuche

No. I left the door open

   We shared mallo bars
      Jelly beans

We licked the sugar sprinkles
   Traces of caramel
      From each other's lips

Ribbons from the empty boxes

   We streamed over our ears
      Devouring sweets was exhausting

When morning came
   You awoke glutted
      Satisfied

But like stripes
   on a candy cane,
      You didn't last
